Overview

Berat is located in central Albania, approximately 120 km southwest of Tirana, along the banks of the Osum River. One of the oldest towns in Albania, with a history dating back to the 4th century BC, Berat has a rich cultural heritage influenced by Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman civilisations. Often referred to as the "City of One on One Windows" due to its unique Ottoman-era architecture, the houses with large windows seem to climb the hillside in a stunning display.
